Great success of CleanOil final workshop

More than 50 attendees coming from national and international organizations joined together in San Sebastian, assisting to 16 technical presentations and panel discussions and benefiting from unparalleled networking opportunities.

Likuid presented its CleanOil Technology for produced water treatment, highlighting the main results of CleanOil project and the added value provided by the H2020 SME Instrument program. Moreover, relevant players in the Oil&Gas market shared their experience in produced water treatment. End-users such as Repsol, OMV E&P GmbH or Petrobras talked about their water management strategies, main challenges and innovations. Several engineering companies and technology suppliers (Acciona, REP, Veolia, Praxair, Novargi, TSK, Tecexsa) presented their products, technologies and processes. Moreover, complementary R&D initiatives were also present in the workshop: European projects such as H2020 INTEGROIL, Life MCUBO or H2020 SpotView were introduced by Acciona Agua, CEIT-IK4 and ArcelorMittal, respectively. Tecnalia presented Harsh project dealing with advanced materials for offshore environments and also introduced its developments on membranes for gas and liquid separations. Finally, UPV/EHU-PiE made an overview of biological effects assessment of oil and gas waste and spills. All in all, it was an intense, inspiring and fruitful workday with a pleasant atmosphere that enabled the knowledge sharing and exchange of information.

We want to thank all those who attended the workshop and especially to all the presenters that made it possible. We are also grateful to CEIT-IK4 and Tecnun for their collaboration in the organization of the event. We are really happy with the very positive feedback and the networking opportunities achieved. We also take this opportunity to reiterate our warm thanks to the European Commission for their support. The CleanOil project (funded by the European Union’s H2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 719201) is nearly finished but this is only a start: the outstanding results achieved, both in the technical and business fields, make us confident about the success and a more and more rapid implementation of our CleanOil technology for water management in the Oil&Gas industry.
